Microplaners - Save your fingers, dump the grater

When you want something more than a grater, get a micro planer. These are typically a piece of metal with grooves cut in to allow you to grate quickly and efficiently. Micro planers are available in a number of sizes and styles and will allow you to grate not only cheeses (especially parmesan) but also hard items like chocolate and nutmeg. In addition, they are easy to clean, easy to hold, and a little less likely to shred your fingers.
